Ragnarok Online 3’s Pioneer Test is about to begin but not everyone will be able to join at once. In a detailed message, Producer Yu explains on Discord, why access is limited and how you can secure a spot in this first phase of testing.
🎟️ Why Is Access So Limited?
The answer is simple: server capacity. The developers were overwhelmed (in the best way) by the interest shown after the reveal. But right now, the game can only support a small number of players per region, and only during specific time windows.
“Instead of having everyone stuck in laggy queues, we’d rather provide a stable experience.”
That means no full-time servers, no always-on access, and no further access. Instead, testing will take place in timed sessions, followed by breaks for maintenance and feedback implementation.
📅 How Will the Pioneer Test Work?
Here’s what to expect:
- ✅ Scheduled time slots, not 24/7 availability
- ✅ Region-based access (initially limited)
- ✅ Maintenance breaks between sessions
- ✅ Gradual rollout of more regions & time zones
The first session begins August 12 for selected regions and new sessions will be added as stability improves. Expect announcements shortly before each wave.
🧑🤝🧑 What Are Friend Codes – and How Do You Get One?
Friend Codes are your ticket into the test. Unlike traditional beta sign-ups, the RO3 team is using these to manage access and promote community involvement.
“We’re not trying to be stingy. The servers can only take so much—so we’re expanding capacity as fast as we can.”
- 🎁 Weekly events on official platforms:
- Discord
- JoyMaker community
- 🏆 Performance-based rewards:
- Ranking events in the 10-player dungeon: Divine Realm
- Speedruns and Guild League activities
More Info about the testing can be found here
Note: Not every code is tied to competition. Some will be handed out randomly, so stay active on official channels.
🔄 More Slots Are Coming
The developers are actively working to scale up server capacity. Each successful session helps improve the next. While it might be frustrating not to get in right away, the long-term benefit is a more stable, more balanced game for everyone.
Final Thoughts
The RO3 Pioneer Test isn’t just a sneak peek – it’s a stress test, a feedback loop, and a soft opening for a game still in development. Access is limited not (only) to generate hype, but to protect the experience.
Until then, stay informed – and maybe keep a friend or two close. You never know who’ll get a code next.
